Hi,
We have a KBA 104 - 5 colors. All units were working fine and then 2 days back the CPC started blipping while the machine was running. I have uploaded a video to show the problem. When we try to set the inks, they are not setting. Sometimes we set at 12 and they run to 15% or higher / lower. The same is the case with water. We are unable to control the units and are unable to run the machine presently. Sometimes it starts working for a couple of minutes and then goes back to this blipping problem. We have got all cards checked, cleaned and everything is dust-free. All power supplies have been checked and no error found. All cables have been checked as well. Can you please help me with this? Thanks in advance!!!

Hi sir;
Please test this first;

1) No supply voltage is present
2) check if the circuit breaker is on.
3)check for fuse is Blowen
4) Check the voltages at terminals, see if there are in tolerance o.7% up or down, according with his schematic diagrams
5) see if fans are running
6) tight and clean all terminal for loose+corrosion.
7) test the Ribbon or flat cables, for loose, dirty, corrosion, or faulty.
8) See if there connectors loose, or corrosion.
9) look for the electronic board for ; Dry +colder joint solder.

  • Thanks for the reply!
    Most all things were checked but I will again get details from the person and ask them to re-check all these.
    I think some of your mentioned points need to be re-checked / properly checked again.
    Person has to come on Tuesday now and do a detailed checke-up.
    Hopefully, we should be able to rectify then or get an answer from them which I shall share.
    Many Thanks.

    ok, sir

    Please keep in Mind, the tolerance of power supply

    Hi,
    We checked everything to the "T' but were still not able to detect any problems.
    The engineer was able to take most of the important cards to another press and exchange their cards with ours into their KBA 104 same format machine and our cards worked fine in that CPC unit. Now they have checked each and every wire. We even took out all ink cards and placed a single card in each inking unit and checked them all but no results.

    There was a particular card which they pushed after taking out and the CPC unit started working but after some 15 minutes, and then it was back to square one.
    According to the engineer, everything looks o.k......the CPC did work thrice for a couple minutes and then went back to blipping. Really need some help here, please.

    Test the power supply in tolerance, this is very Important and most of the customer , does Not see it.

    Power supply must be in tolerance, if you measure +5Vdc, if you measure 5.3Vdc, the power supply is faulty, you must replace it or repair, and goes with the other voltages of Vdc!!!!!

    Any Voltage out of tolerance, WILL not operat any electronic boards, by that reason, your Electronic board, work well in the other machines. You must check the input from Machine for Vca in tolerance for 10% up or down, and adjust the Main Transformer, since this affect the secondary of main transformer, and can damage the Power supply of Vdc.!!

    O.K....Many Thanks!
    I am going to get this checked accordingly. We have called up another engineer just so another person can look at the machine (CPC) with an open mind and a different approach. I will discuss all points mentioned earlier, and above and hopefully, we should have a solution to this problem. There are not many KBA 104 5 clr machines here in New Delhi, the capital city of India. Most are Heidelberg presses so not many engineers with us. Thanks, much!!

  • Hi sir;

    Please do the following first;

    1) Perform a visual inspection : look for loose and broken wires, improperly seated connectors, loose or broken wires
    misset switch, missing jumpers. and so on.
    Chech for obviously damaged component(components burned or discolore due to overheating);
    Dust + dirt + tear +wear

    2) Reseating Boards and components:
    Edge connectors are a common source of problems. Power down the system and remove the PC boards. Examine the edge connector
    for contamination and clean with contacts cleaner contacts. Reseat any loose components such as scoketed ICs) . Reseat the
    boards and power up.

    3) Power supply checks:
    Check the power supply for missing voltages and voltages out of spec. A digital multimieter DMM can be necessary, as
    voltage specifications are quite tight: logic supplies for example: must be within + o.7% percent of 5Vdc. All the
    multiple supplies and all must be checked.
