Is all paper of a certain color, weight, and type the same?

I'm a graphic designer who sometimes orders business cards for clients. One client would like linen cards, though the printer I use offers these, they don't offer samples. So, before ordering the cards, I'd like to make sure they are the stock that the client likes.
The printer offers linen in 100lb white stock. If I buy a few sheets of that from the local paper store, will it be identical or nearly identical to the 100lb white linen stock the printer uses? Or does it depend on whoever manufactured the paper? Thank you for any suggestions!

If it's critical, get your printer to tell you what exact stock they would run your job on.
Then order a swatch sample book from that paper mill (most will provide sample swatch books for free.)

  • There are several things which could go wrong with this strategy, primarily of which is the fact that you can't really be sure of what stock your printer will use if you do not ask and they do not tell you. If yourr printer won't work with the stock that you prefer, isn't this an indication that you should start thinking of switching over to a more reliable, flexible printer?

do not know what kinds of that in USA ,But if in China ,first the customer should offer you a paper sample ,or you can require your printer give you some sample for your customer to choice ,gennerly the paper supplier will give many hands samples sets to printing factory ,like we have much hands samples from different paper supplier
