iGen 4 C16-354 on ES5200

Maybe someone can give me a hand on this one.
Loading base ff8 v 81.B0.34A on an ES5200 server. After it finishes loading and comes up ready all XCDM boards are good (all leds are lit).
If I just restart the xerox software without rebooting the server, the XCDMs still come up OK.
If I power down the server completely and power back up, The XCDM in the 1st slot will not come up (only the 1 initial led on). The other 2 XCDM boards are good (all leds lit), and I have a C16-354.
I have noticed that when it comes up at the very beginning when they are all lit, the XCDM board in slot 2 starts coming up first, then slot 3 and finally slot 1.
When I power down and restart the server it starts in slot 2, then slot 3 but slot 1 never initializes ( only 1 led lit).
I have tested the XCDM boards and all are good. I have even swapped xiim, all XCDMboards and even the motherboard but symptoms are still the same.
Sorry for the long post, but I'm pulling my hair out over this one. Maybe Mark can give me some answers...lol

As a side note, when the initial load is done (81.B0.34A), I can send jobs just fine, no faults occur and prints are nice. There is one nagging fault on the server, C03-201 which says a consumable is near end of life. But that should only occur with the DC 240 family of FreeFlow!

I would perform a scrape install and reload. I have had reloads that don't install correctly even tho everything looks like it has gone through OK. I would also reset the BIOS to defaults (GP138) as you have replaced the motherboard

When you say scape reload what do you mean by that? I load by booting off the Full install disk for the initial load.
All the IDIC boards read OP.
GP 138 has been done. I'm beginning to think the hard drives are the problem. When I install 81.C2.03 upgrade, the hostid changes to 21CE9358. I don't know where that number is coming from. I checked both network ports with ifconfig and it isn't coming from either one of them.

When you reload from the DVD all the data is kept in the partitions - it does not overright them. A scrape install deletes all the data pertaining to that systems. It is sometimes the only way to get a good reload. Procedure below

1. Open a new terminal window and login as superuser.
2. In the terminal window, type cd /install_data
3. Type ls to view the contents of the directory.
4. Type rm -r * to remove all custom information. (rm space -r space *)
5. Type ls again to verify that the files have been removed.
6. Type eject and place the iGen4 DVD into the drive.

You will need to change the boot order in BIOS to boot from the DVD and then at the first reboot change it back to HDD else the reload will start again over and over

If you have replaced the motherboard the hostid will change (It's hard coded to the motherboard). You will need to get new licenses tied to that hostid

Thanks for the info on the clean scrape. I've only done that on the PSIP. Says install_data doesn't exist

Sorry - that is for the PSIP. It has been a long day with my head stuck in a 150 stacker.

The directory you need to delete for FFPS is - I think. I can't confirm atm as this 150 has a Fiery

If you have a restore disk do not use it as that may also be corrupt

It's a good practice to read the size of the partitions before do the format and restore them manually. The restore disk take care about system partitions but in this case the sys restore disk is nonfunctional.
The system will partitioning itself the hdd if you select 'disk overwrite partition' from install menu but the problem is the root partition will be only 8GB which is too less for this system.

I don't like to use restore disks. I believe the root partition on the freeflow is 63 gb for the iGen 4. I have had an issue where the swap file area of the hard drives had bad sectors causing image transmition faults.

Any size great than 20 GB is good for root partition. I think you can use restore disc from version 9 of FFPS for making partition because 9 version and 8 version has same zfs Solaris filesystems.
