As the title implies, I am having some issues with the backgauge of my IDEAL 4850.

The machine routinely will send the backgauge to the back starting position while in the process of making cuts or when sitting idly and not in use.

I have had issues with the potentiometer in the past where it had to be replaced because of warping.

I think this might be a source of my issue, considering it feels like the machine is trying to recalibrate itself... but I don't know for sure.

Thanks for any and all suggestions/help!

  • Thank you for your reply.

Do you think that calibration is the issue and going through the diagnostic will solve it?

The measurements aren't off and all program steps cut correctly.

I don't know if my explanation was sufficient enough or understandable.
It's as if my machine has a mind of it's own. I'll be on a step of a program and I'll make a cut and then - poof - it will send the measurement back, stop, and then back some more, and then go all the way to the back...

Diagnostic and calibration, has that mission.

    Try first Sir.
