Is it possible to use a HP 5200 Laserjet to produce transparencies or polyester plates that can be used for 4 color CMYK printing?

I usually produce artwork at 300 DPI.

The laserjet specs says it can produce 1200 x 1200 DPI, so it would plenty of resolution - But is this the reality?

Laser printers can print on transparency or polyester plate but the registration is not perfect. They shrink or expand and sometimes it is not square. If you print 4 plates for CMYK the registration will be difficult to match. May be you can for some low quality jobs or Spot color job where there is no color matching.

Yeah, that can be tough to achieve. They do stretch easy. I used repositionable glue 3M to attach them to cylinder and it helped a bit with 2 color printing. I imagine dealing with 4 color and repositioning everything manually to achieve CMYK register would be a long process plus given a quick stretching, won't last long. Get a proper platemaker otherwise you'd be wasting your time.
