We are looking at HP Indigo press. We aren't a high volume shop, but we are a high Value shop. Bells and Whistles are important to us. Speed is not so much. Being able to hit pantone colors is big for us. As far as pure image quality goes, Do we get anymore out of a 7900 then we do out of a 5900? White ink is important to us. We print on a lot of Clear label materials and thin plastics as well as metallized paper and board. My initial thoughts are the the 5900 yes its slower, but with the thick substrate option and the ability to use White +CMYK+Orange and Violet is big for us. With One shot we can print on synthetics and metallic substrates.

But it seems like everybody is buying 7900's Im sure in a pure commercial printing environment with people running volume , That is the right press.

Would love to hear any feedback regarding both printers. Again im really interested mostly in image quality and color gamut. Speed not so much.
