Hello, I sure hope someone can help me. My Horizon FC-20A trimmer is sticking in the knife down position. Once it stops it triggers the Alarm light on the Motor Driver. I need to hit the Emergency Stop button until the power drains from the motor driver then use the inch button to bring it back up. It was a once in a while problem which has grown into an almost full time problem. The chain was very loose which was causing a banging noise. After tightening the chain the banging noise went away and I thought the problem as well but eventually it happened again. I'm worried it's the motor driver or the motor. Does anyone know if the motor driver or the motor will work sometimes and then stop? I'm hoping it's not either of those two so I'm hoping somebody has good news for me and possibly even a solution. Thanks in advance for any possible help.

Hi sir:
Please test the following:
1) Clutch of motor
2) Brake of motor
3) Belt motor if loose.
4) Maintenance Motor.
5) Clean and lube very well bearing, Upper cutter drive unit.
6) Test the proximity switch for the Upper cutter drive unit Stop position.

  • Thank you for your reply. Being that the motor is totally enclosed how would I go about checking these items? In the morning after being off all night it seems to work well for about 200 - 300 books before it starts stopping almost like after something is heating up. Would the motor be able to work at all if it were the problem?
    Thanks

    Please test the Motors:
Need maintenance take motor to some Shop repair : 1) Ball bearings 2) LUBE 3) Dirty 4) Maybe wounded( stator or Rotor) Reheating( make a new winding)
    5) Clutch +6) Brake.
And review the Steps before, like proximity Switch.
