Horizon FC-10 Conveyor Not Very Effective - Tips for Improvement?

We recently purchase an MC80A, SPF10II, FC10II and Conveyor. The conveyor is not doing a very good job of staggering and drawing the booklets away from the trimmer. Often they are just kind of getting stuck at the weighted wheels. It seems like the belts are not gripping the booklets well enough. We've added rubber grip tape (Tesa tape) to the wheels and also lifted the wheels up a little bit which helped a tiny bit but not enough. We are considering adding the tape to the belts themselves but are hesitant to try it. Has anybody had this experience and have any tips?
