Hello, my name is Ryan Griffiths and I am having a small problem that I am hoping someone can help me out with. I'm trying to gather information on an old printing press that has been sitting in my garage/barn for many years now. I know that it is an Original Heidelberg press, and that it is approximately 35-40 years old. I am trying to sell this press and need information on it so that I can work out a price point at which to sell it. If anyone knows where on this machine I would find the serial number (I have looked over the entire thing and can not find one anywhere) or can provide me with any valuable resources that would aide me in selling this piece of machinery I would be very appreciative. It would help if you told us what kind of press, offset, letterpress, platen or cylinder, my guess, it's some kind of letterpress. In any case look for the serial number stamped in on bare metal, they are very hard to see unless your looking at the right angle. Good luck
Unfortunately, I don't know what kind of press it is.... I don't know anything about it. I do have some pictures of the press that I could post, but that is about as helpful as I can be.
Yep, the good old Heidelberg platen, if I can remember back that far, the serial number was stamped on bare metal, on the front lower right hand side? Look for where two parts are joined together
Hi Griffiths, thats Heidelberg Platen Windmill 10"x15" Letterpress (in the photos) now generally used for diecutting and creasing .
EXCELLENT! Thanks for the help everyone, I'll take a look for the serial number tonight and see what I can find. I've already searched and searched but I may have missed it if it's stamped into the bare metal as NotAGooner says. If this press has been out of operation for about 10 years, but was in working condition when it was unplugged then could anyone estimate a value? I've been trying for weeks to get this taken care of, and this is the most progress I've made (contacting Heidelberg has proven useless). This is a great forum, thanks members! **EDIT - I've also noticed when looking up this press that some of them are listed as 'black ball' and some 'red ball' is that simply the colour of the balls at the end of the many handles on the machine? If so, why is it bothered to be noted?**
Hi Griffith, it´s an old OHT, Heidelberger Tiegel,letterpress, english windmill because of the gripper system. Suppose that your´s was manufactured in 60´s. My first press was built in 50´s, had black balls and black motor cover. Tell me what is written on the brass plate. To find a price is difficult. They are out of time, only for die cutting, imprints, numbering... On Ebay for few hundred Euros, dealers want up to 5000.

If you have not found the serial number yet it is located on the top left corner of the milled press frame (About knee height) where the paper is loaded. Sometimes you need to move the paper guide in as it will cover the serial number if it is all the way out to the left.
