    Hi there
Just wondering if anyone has had any trouble with a printhead blocking up.
this machine runs off 2 print heads, 6 colours each head.

it is only 1 colour on 1 head that is blocking up. and a automatic clean flushes the system. But problem reoccurs after a night sitting dormant.

    is this a common problem?
are there any known solutions apart from replacing the head?

    Cheers
    Adam

I would check the material you are using. Cheaper materials; photo paper etc, will cause the problems you have listed. We have a IPF8000, and has the same problem when cheap materials were used. With all manufacturers cutting costs and lowering the quality on material, price is not the number one thing to look for. What type of media are you printing? and whats the Brand of material?

    only use the following medias

    DES Posterpro Satin/semigloss
    GBC 80gsm White Bond paper
    GBC Canvas
    GBC Backlit Media
    GBC Adhesive Synthetic Paper

have been using the same stocks for 1.5 years on same machine without problems.

    Thanks for the suggestion though

    Printhead blocking up

Um, very abnormal, could be due to cartridges. There's the CISS forum

maybe they'll be able to help :)

    help with a Canon IPF8100

Hey, if i understand you correctly everything is fine after a big cleaning? There are some things to check: at first that the ink tubes from every color tank to the printhead fit right so that they are not buckling. if everything is ok put both printheads out and turn the power of the ipf on . Now he thinks its a new installation, put the printheads back at its place. Now he refills all of his tubes with fresh ink and puts the last bit of air out of them. This should cost you much ink and capacity of your maintenence cartrige, but it works!!

that is also the reason the printer would continuously block.

there is no way to repair it...

only a temp fix that lasts a few prints... costing more in waste as well as maintenance cartridges

    Adam.,
There are several reasons cause your printhead blocked
I think the main reason is your ink. Pls original genuine Canon ink cartridge or high quality compatible ink cartridge. Anyway, you can try ours for both original and compatible.
Original Canon Ink cartridge for Canon 8100, PFI-701: USD175 Per unit; Compatible ink cartridge for PFI-701 @USD62/PCS
The second, pls check the quality of media (as Zach-core says), pls look through our website for the details medias (www.chinainkjetpaper.com)
