Heidelberg QM46-2 Suction and Blow problems

Hi folks, I'm hoping that somebody can help me, it's a bit of a long story, please stick with it!

Bought the press last year and had it delivered to my home address with the idea of printing at home and doing my digital stuff at my unit, that hasn't worked out, I never actually used the press while it was here, just spent hours cleaning it and getting lots of crusty ink off the pins bars, while oiling and greasing it all up, because it was in **** state when it arrived...
The other day I finally managed to get the press moved to my unit and I have noticed that since then the suction and blow doesn't work, it definitely did while it was here..

To get the press into my room I had to remove the control panel and while we moved the machine, the control panel dropped to the floor ripping the ribbon from the back of it, which was nice....! I think we have managed to get that back together, everything lights up where it should and all the buttons do what they should, apart from the blow/suction. We are hearing a click, which when I have taken the panel off is the relay, but there is no air or suction.. I've changed all the fuses on the pcb panel and I've pressed in the little swich that sits above the relay, because that was out rather than in like the other ones on the panel....

Anybody got any ideas? I'm not too bad at fixing things, but I am a novice, so if you can try lay mans terms that would be great! Thanks folks, Mark

Tried to sort the problem again last week, all the pipes are on, the compressor is wired up ok...

Does anybody know of any reasonably priced Heidelberg Engineers around the Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire area that can help me with this?

I think it's got something to do with the ribbon on the back of the control panel. Does anybody have a picture of how it is supposed to look, or a diagram or anything? I may have put it back on incorrectly, so I've taken it back off again, but it's difficult knowing if it's right or not without knowing what it is supposed to look like..

Start by making sure you have power going to the pump. HVK board (the one with fuses, #5 & #14 are the pump) test voltages after you press the pump button on the control panel and light is on! If ok, then remove pump from press (careful, the plastic hose fittings get brittle) remove motor fan cover to see if you can move pump manually! Test pump from remote power.

Thanks very much STW100, I checked the HVK board with a multimetre, all checked out ok, so it turned out to be the pump. It was sort of semi seized, like it was a bit stuck in one place. Once I'd forced it over where it seemed to be stuck, it became easier to move round. I got it out and took it apart to check it out and it seems that it will soon be near the end of it's life, the metal cylinder at the front was almost touching the top of the casing, I presume it is supposed to be in the middle of the casing?... It will probably need refurbishing in the not too distant future anyway, but for now It's working again with the aid of a bit of WD40!! Thanks again mate, much appreciated.

The rotor for the vanes is offset in the cylinder! Glad to see it working now for you.

ok cool, so the black inserts, that look like plastic, what is their purpose?

Those are the carbon vanes! They generate the vaccume/blast with the air!

You should not have to look overseas for the vanes for your pump. You have excellent guys in the UK.
