I have recently bought a 2nd hand QM46-2, Stil learning the machines tricks.

When we print 2 colours the second unit's colour is not coming out correcltly on the one side it is relatively full coloured and on the other side it makes tiny bubles on the spot where the colour should be.

Is this roller settings or water settings that is wrong.

Thank you solong for any assistance.:)

Select the second unit, push the S button, select 01 on the number pad for water or 02 for ink. Push the + and this will allow you to check your form roller settings.

Hope this helps.

  • Thank you for the help :)

I have tried that very quickly but did not pay attention wil try that in detail this weekend.

Another stupid question, when you enable the S function for the form rollers, are you suppose to see 3 stripes or just two? I used the S function on unit 1 and only get 2 stripes. One extremly large +- 6mm and the other +- 3-4mm and there is no 3rd stripe.

Yes, you have three stripes for the ink form rollers and one form the water form in both units. Hopefully you have a manual to explain the settings and direction of adjustments.

Make sure the width of the ink stripe from the plate roller inkers on to the plate are no more than 3mm and 4mm to the oscillators. Check and adjust the settings to the osillators first.

Thank you all for the help.:):D

I have checked the rollers and stripes this weekend. They were way off. Another dumb qeustion if the stripes is more than 4mm what will happen?

And is it nesesary to run sum sort of lubrication on the second unit if I am only printing one colour on the first unit?

If the ink stripes are too much they can give print problems like roller marks and premature plate wear, but only on a long run.
If you are only doing small runs at a reasonable speed no lube is necessary, but having said that it would not do any harm !

    Regards

I agree, I will only use lube if I am running single color jobs all day. excessive pressure on your rollers can be fixed so easily with a turn of a handle. This machine is one of the easiest presses that I have ever worked on. Take care of it, lube it and keep it clean, hint use a blanket and roller wash that is water miscible. I use step one roller wash first then roller wash and water mixed second and then finish with straight roller wash when I clean the rollers. This will keep your rollers cleaner and help them last longer.

    Good luck..

    Thank you very much.

But what tyoe of lube should i use. We are located in South Africa and most of the High end and good stuff we dont get here. Will Heidelberg branch in SA have these necesary lube and grease and all that?

  • roller lube for jobs 1000 impressions or more and if your running short jobs all day long, better safe than sorry !!! no big deal washing up !!!!!!

You could just use boiled linseed oil from your local chemist.

No need to buy expensive roller lubrication potion's. Linseed oil can be mixed in ink as a reducer.

    Regards.
