I run a Heidelberg QM 46-4 DI. Ever since I started running this press the delivery table height sensor has been broken. The table height must be constantly monitored and manually dropped as the pile height increases. My boss claims that the sensor is way too expensive to replace, so I just have to deal with it. Has anyone experienced this issue with this press, and have any advice/quick fixes? This is quite annoying when you are trying to do preparations during a run. Thanks for any help

Let the boss deal with it when there's a smash due to the pile not dropping.

    Simples ;-)

Well its not really a huge deal the press operates fine, its just a big waste of time to have to walk over every so often and drop the table slightly. I just didn't know if there was a quick fix to this problem, or had any experience with how expensive it is to replace.

ummm ,if its the same as a qm46/2 then I think it is only around $200 for the part, and you should be able to install it in 20 mins by yourself!!! As stated above, a smash is going to cost a lot more!!!

if its a matter of $$$ I would start updating the old resume..

If you keep track of how many times a day you have to go back there and lower the pile, even if it only takes 30 seconds and you do it 10 times a day that is 5 minutes, at the end of the week it is 25 minutes and in a month it is 1 hour 40 minutes. Times that by the hourly rate the machine gets billed out at over the course of a year and you will realize you can buy a sensor.
