Heidelberg MOZP-H with CPC 1-02 Problem

The fault is on the ink zone motors/potentiometers. The motors are turning in the correct directions according to the rotation applied by the + and – keys on the CPC control panel. When, for example, the + key is pressed the ink duct opens but the LED display shows the motion and reading in reverse(LED goes down). In addition to this the motors are also “shuffeled” around, key 1 operates motor 3, key 2 operates motor 4, key 3 operates motor 1 and key 4 operates motor 2. This is the same for each motor/potentiometer card on the machine respectively.

I have replaced the “MOT 1”, “TAS”, “ANZ”, and “MWE 1” control cards with working cards from a 4 colour machine, but no difference was made.

I have unplugged the outgoing ribbon cables to the ink ducts one by one and tested the machine after each disconnection, thinking that there is a damaged cable in the line that could be causing some sort of signal interference but have had no positive results. The power supplies have been tested and all is ok there too.

According to the nature of the problem I would think that the fault is with the card “MWE” as this card receives and processes the signals from the potentiometers and sends these signals to the display but I have had no better results in changing that PCB.
I have even gone as far as changing the display and keyboard card “ATV” with no joy.

Hopefully someone has some ideas with regards to this problem ?

Hello BosRot,

Seems like someone has tempered with the connections of your flat cables, what is the variation like on the LED's when you try to move the motors? are they decreasing smoothly? if the motors are moving in the right direction the only way the LED's would display the opposite behavior is when the polarity on the POT themselves are reversed, please have that checked and also I would advise you to cross check all your connections with wiring diagram of the cpc.

good luck!

  • Hello Waqas_zahid,

Thank you for your suggestion. I am certain we have checked all the connections of the flat cables but I will get this checked and let you know.

    Hi,
Did you check "Earth" connection of CPC? Probably, there is an leakage. You may need to check turn off anti-static eliminator of the machine as well.

    Good luck,

    Hi Waqas-Zahid

All cables have been checked and double checked and are all in their correct position . The polarity on the Pots are correct, but have nothing to do with the motors key buttons that are not corresponding to the motors themselves.
I have, again now tested all voltages in and out of each PCB card , transformer and rectifier on CPC and all correct.
I have exchanged all control cards (MOT,TAS,ANZ,MWEI,ATV )with working cards from 4 colour , also with CPC102 with no difference
I have no more ideas !!!!

Hello..is there an error code on the top led. ? Cpc 102/3 has a basic diagnosis code display..this shows diagnosis codes from 1 to 96..each for various problems.. Thanks..

    Hi MrFixit,

We have tested various PC Boards from a 4 colour MOVP. The error no. 6 comes up and depending on the board it comes up for a split second or with other boards it comes up for up to 4 seconds before it goes away. Our books do not refer to an error no. 6 but because it disappears after 0.1 - 4 seconds we don' t think it is relevant ? Do you have any idea about error no. 6

We received the machine with an old MWE board that was replaced with a new MWE board.
These boards look totally different. We have tested the machine with other MWE boards as well and the problem remains.
Error no. 6 appears on the display for a split second when using the new MWE board. When using another MWE board error no. 6 appears for 3-4 seconds before it goes away.

    Hi BosRot,
I will suggest exchanging the disributor pcbs for ink zone keys FZT positioned beneath the ink zones push button station with those from another cpc for probaable remedy of this lingering fault. Also take a look at the motherboard on which all the boards in the rack plug into.

  • We have found the problem. Another machine dealer had changed the ribbon cables and fitted the plugs incorrectly on the ribbon cables.
The clips on the plug was removed so that the plugs could be fitted differently. Thanks for all the help.
