Heidelberg Dampening system differences

Hello. We mostly use water dampening Heidelberg machines in our country and I am not familiar with other dampening systems. I want to buy SM 74 and SORMZ machines which mostly are Alcolor, Compaq, Alcohol dampening systems. Can anyone help me know what chemicals such dampening systems require? What is the major difference between the various dampening systems? We use fountain solution for conventional dampening I don't have any idea what to use with other dampening systems.

hi dear sir, you are buying new machines or second-hand machines. I recommend SM, CD, SX, XL AND others!

  • Hi Abdu,
Alcolor is a kind of modern dampening system- best solution, alcohol dampening is in Europe outdated- you have to use higher IPA concentration and a special cloth sleeves on a dampening roller, settings are quite difficult to set, unstable during production, Varn Kompac dampening is a product from Varn company which was or is still used on GTO46 or GTO52 Presses, which had before the retrofit an alcohol dampening, it works well but as I know only in B3 (52cm) Format for larger format presses is not as good any more.
