Just got a 1993 GTOZ installed in our shop. It's Alcolor. I turn it on and compresor starts and gets pressure. But there is a red light in both printing units that does not go off. I cheked all seafty devices and seem to be in order. but red light still on. I got inking rollers out for cleaning, but machine should run anyway(right?) i'm new to alcolor(i also turn on Royse R&R and water gets into pans) and i'm not sure if i'm missing something or press has a electrical and/or mechanical problem. Any pressman out there? or a technician? Any help very appreciated!

  • If you removed ink rollers, the roller journels need to be in the closed position in order for the press to operate.
    Good Luck

    Hi,

Is the water up to the sensors in the pans.
To check just turn the damper pans off on the control panel.
Check the 2 sheet trip adjuster isn't touching the trip wheel.

    Regards.

    Thanks for your help guys!
    * Compressor is fine...i think(over 7 bar un manometer, besides machine inches)
    * i put all the rollers back in and no run yet, so i guess not a roller problem.

*i put water(and then put it out) and saw the yellow light going on and off(so i think it's not about that too) Also tried turning off the damp pans in control panel and still no run.

Thanks again to all and any new ideas wellcome

Isn't there a seperate compressor for the pneumatics?

I am experienced in MOZPs and Speedmasters, so can only speak from that standpoint

Sorry not up to speed on alcolor GTOs

    Hi,

I guess you have checked the 2 sheet trip.
Do you have a blue light flashing anywhere.
When you are opening and closing the guards can you hear the respective relay opening and closing.

    Regards.

  • Thanks again guys!
I apreciate all your hints. You may be thrilled to know what really was the problem here...
The main motor. There is a thermo-magnetic "breaker" on it and now i remember that, when installed, the guy showed me how that switch protects the motor and then turned it off. Because it doesn't look like it was off, i never checked that! Today i pushed it and red light became green and could start the press.

Thanks for your help and i'll be arround to try and pay my knowledge debt.
