GTO inches but won't Run

GTO year 1981,
Stopped press to do registration, when I went to start the press it does not go on Run.
Checked all the safety guards, double sheet detector, crank handle, delivery stop etc, all functioning
properly. Press will inch back and forward.
At the time the press was inked up, so I pulled the motor break and pressed C1 contactor
in order to run machine and clean press.
I have someone coming to take a look at it but it won't be for some time,
Hoping I can get some advice on here for things to look at.
Attached is a pic of the run/paper/water/impression switch box.
Thanks

One question can anyone tell me what the D5 contactor's function is?
If the handle is set on run and I manually "push in" D5 the press starts to run.

  • Yes, I suspect the coil is bad since everything functions when you manually push d5 in, I am trying to locate a replacement right now.
I will attach a pic of the part I need.

Heidelberg said this is the direct successor, but I don't think it's going
to work, does anyone have a source for this part?

Why do you think it won’t work? As long as it is equipped with the correct amount of NO and NC contacts, and the control voltage requirements is correct for your machine, it should be fine.

The L1-L3/T1-T3 terminals are NO contacts, along with the #14 contact make this a 4 NO contactor, and the control voltage ( coil wires) are on the front face rather than in the rear. The old version in your machine simply are no longer available, because of this, you MAY need to extend wires.

I’m not sure what you mean buy make this a 4 no contractor could you post any pics?

Sounds as if you should contact a qualified electrician. "4 NO contactor" means that in relaxed state, no current flows.

Not sure what exactly you mean, just be sure you’re using a contactor rated for the current draw of the motor, the high current terminals on the new contactor (line and load) should be transferred from old contactor to new in the same positions.

Thanks for all your input and help, much appreciated.

  • ATTACHED, HOPE CAN HELP YOU

    BLESSING.
Thank you so much for the help! I’m not getting much from my end. Just trying anything I can for help. I have found a replacement part for the relay that heidelburg says not available. Waiting for approval to order if this solves the problem I will post back and hopefully it will help others in need! I appreciate your input and help

Relic, this is an item that can be procured anywhere, such as from your local electrical supply house, Grainger, EBay or maybe even Amazon. Keep in mind our previous responses as to sizing, and possible lengthening of the coil wire. If you know an electrician, it’s a very simple job and will take him under 1/2 hour to accomplish the task. Follow our suggestions, and you can do it yourself in under an hour.
