If G7 is too expensive, I have a simple method to adjust plate curves for grey balance printing.
I worked at GATF for several years and developed these values.
1-print a complete tone scale with linear plates. At these densities-
    Y-1.00 M-1.40 C-1.30 K-1.70
    2-Measure all the dot areas.
3-Enter these values into your rip as “measured”.
4-Enter my “wanted” numbers into your rip.
The next set of plates will be adjusted for grey balance.
Same “wanted” numbers for uncoated - but lower densities y-.90 m1.10 c1.00 k1.40
Email me and I’ll send you the values.
