Is this for manual or auto wash use?
There are prlenty out there, we have trialed a lot, and most caused us some problems, be it rollers not wanting to ink up or simply the auto wash blanket/roller couldn't be fine tuned enough to work with a wash that only needs very little to do the job..

I do belive there is one specific wash that several large print shops in the states have been using for a long time now, so your best bet is to start with that one
Brigl wash from Genisis chemistry. it is below 32g/l voc no suffactants / no acetone / no petrolium . it is made up of soy methyl ester and acetic acid methyl ester,, now yes acetic acid methyl ester is a voc exempt chemical, but even if you were to add the voc of that particular chemical the product is still bellow 100g/l voc.

A big problem with a lot of the vegetable based washes out there is a) the vegetable base b) high levels of sufactants in them
Now if these are not flushed off the rollers with water and blanket not wiped down with a rag wet with water, you will have drama's

Another way is to still use a petrolium based wash but one that contains non-photo chemically reactive solvents, this way when they are discharged into the atmosphere, they will not react with the carbon emissions and form photo chemical smog. (But the product is still petrolium based so you have all the other negitive environmental impacts caused from such a product.)

On one final note, if your using these green products through the auto wash system, make sure they are safe to do so, some have cause corrosion to rubber seals at times..
And also conduct your own rubber swell tests to make sure your not going to do more harm then good ( as above some of the funky concocsions have had negitive effects to the rollers in some print shops).

I do use the Genesis LemonAire as it is in compliance with California's regulations. The product is safe, low VOC and works more effectively then previous washes I have used.

I realize that this is an old thread, but I'd second the Genesis/Brigl suggestion. We've been using it on our single color presses & Hamada C252 for a couple years now and find that it works well. Care must be used to follow up with a water rinse- warm water works well to cut the surfacants & wash residue.
