Gaoyi County to Spend RMB 1.35 Billion (USD 220.2 Million) on North China’s Biggest Packaging Technology Industry Zone

On May 22, 2013, a seminar on investment into a packaging industry zone project was held in Gaoyi County, Hebei Province. The seminar was an important step in the county’s development of its economy and its drive to build the biggest packaging technology industry zone in North China.

Gaoyi has taken various measures to promote the project, including the introduction of new methods to evaluate and attract inward investment. The county government is also strengthening local infrastructure by improving road, water, power and gas facilities. A one-stop administrative approval system has also been implemented to streamline the capital injection process for investors.

At the signing ceremony between Xinglong Packaging Company and the administrators of the packaging technology industry zone, a Xinglong corrugated production line, the most advanced in the country, was put into production. The operating speed of the line is 300 m/min and it has the capacity to generate annual sales income of over RMB 250 million (USD 40.8 million).

Xinglong Packaging Company spans 66,000sqm, with a floor area of 42,000sqm. It has a staff of over 200, as well as 60+ advanced sets of packaging equipment.

The Gaoyi County Packaging Technology Industry Zone, led by Xinglong Packaging Company, will be built in two phases to span 666,667 sqm (300,000 sqm in the first phase and 366,667 sqm in the second).

The total investment is estimated at RMB 1.35 billion (USD 220.2 million) with a floor area of 135,300 sqm. The zone’s administrators plan to buy 1,580 sets of production and inspection equipment. A total of 22 companies, with an annual production capacity of 500 million sqm of corrugated cases, will set up base in the zone.

Packaging and printing services will be integrated with logistics, scientific research, exhibition, trade, training, commercial business and service industries in the new area, which will mainly produce packaging materials for medicine, food, furniture, electronic appliances, wine, ceramics and vegetable commodities. Upon its completion, this will be the biggest packaging and printing industry zone in North China, generating an estimated annual sales income of over RMB 1.5 billion (USD 244.7 million). It looks set to become a powerful driver of economic development in Gaoyi.
