Feeder head not moving on preset

The feeder head on our 628 is not moving on auto preset. The side guides move. We can move the feeder head using the fine adjustment.
Anyone know what the problem is?

Make sure the photo-electric sensors are clean and working…. talking about the Sucker interference detectors..
fine adjustment works even if there's something blocking the sensors.
