    Hi,

I would like to retrofit the double sheet detector on Heidelberg CD102 year 2000 for conventional commercial printing works on paper mainly magazine printing. Any suggestion on the make and model, is it complicated on the installation and setup.

    Thank you.

Are you considering installing an electronic double sheet detector to compliment the mechanical?

    Hi Exheidmech,

The machine only have the spring to sepparate the sheet and sometime there is double sheet feeding. Is that mean the sping may be not a good one or poor adjustment.

    Hi Precision1984,

You are correct, and I have seen the sensor people offer double sheet detector, could we apply to the Heidelberg machine.

    double sheeter

QGE - Often the double sheet wheel gets a flat worn in the running area, and misses sheets on occasion. If you are running label stocks consistently, it would be a good idea to spend the money on an electronic detector, but I would take a close look at the the counter weighted disc to be sure your problem may be solved without spending the big bucks. I'm not familiar with any after market double sheet detector manufacturers, but it is a device using inductive sensing transmitter and receivers, so there should be something out there. Good Luck, Steve

Ive run the old 72's over the last 15 years with mechanical detectors.

No maintenance, trouble free and that's mainly on label stock plus others.

the mechanical/electrical double sheet detector has proven to be a very reliable unit in all cases as far as im concerned. If your having problems with its reliability then perhaps its been flatspotted as someone mentioned or it could not be working properly. My thinkin is that it would be more affordable to repair what you have then to retrofit the press with an ultrasonic or any other system. One thing i have found is that when your setting the double sheet detector instead of using strips of paper to set the detector (as ive seen many people do) your better off just running sheets down the feedboard and keep closing the gap until the detector trips the feeder off. Once youve found the spot where it just trips off the feeder just back it off a hair and tighten up the lock.

Stick with what you have, mechanical is the way to go, you have full control over the setting.

Its going to cost you to buy and then it will cost you to repair later......not wise

electronic double sheeters have been optional equipment, ordered with the press or installed post installation

    Ultrasonic double sheet detector

Hi, it's way too late to reply for you.
But I install ultrasonic double sheet detector.
In case of CD102year2000, first unit electrical box has been already prepared for detector and DSD condition is diplayed in feeder LCD.
It is easy to install this detector in CD102, SM102or any Heidelberg presses.

    Thank you

Mechanical double sheet detectors? Sure works.
With ultrasonic, no more adjustment, no guess work,
you can just forget about double sheet.
