I have a Chief 217, the main head has a Kompac II and the second head has a conventional dampening system. Problem is when I try to run two color the second head is completely covering the plate in ink and it will not wash off until I turn the water on full and it floods the press. Any help is appreciated. I am not very familiar with the conventional system and yes I am a new operator.

    4State,
The Chief 217 is a bit temperamental to run. Be patient. You want to make sure that each roller in the water train is making good contact. You do this by making a strip of 20# or 24# paper 1 1/2 inches wide and checking the tension between the plate and the water form roller. The tension should be even and not too tight to break the paper. The tension between the chrome roller and the water form should be gentle but firm and can be adjusted by the spring loaded assembly.
Like I said, be patient and most of all be safe. Best of luck to you.
