clamp preassure IDEAL 4810?

I have an old 4810 guillotine. The one with an automatic clamp. Is there any way to adjust the preassure of the clamp. Seems to leave horrible marks on the paper when clamping down before cutting.

If its the clamp that marks the paper and you are left with kind of zig zag pattern from the clamp
You can cut some straw board and stick it to the clamp
we used to have a magnetic strip that had foam on one side which stuck to the clamp, ideal for cutting NCR, this would ease the marking on the paper remember if you reduce the
pressure on the clamp you may find the paper dragging leaving it cut at an angle
