CIS to run non-oem inks in 8- or 12- color printers?

Is anyone running a CIS to run non-oem generic inks in an 8- or 12- color photo printer (e.g. an Epson 2400, 3800, or 4800.)

I'm looking to produce variable and very short run gloss folded cards, postcards, and other photographic items that require a nice gloss and very heavy stock (ruling out current lasers, at least in my price range); I'm currently running a CIS system on my old (ancient) epson 1280 but would like the larger print heads and better color quality and longer print life of modern 8+ color printers. At the same time, I need a cost per print lower than what OEM epson inks can deliver.

Lyson refillable Epson 4800 cartridges are said to be in the works here: http://www.marrutt.com/4800-bulk.php

Not a Continuous ink system, but with the large cartridges by default, a possible means to reduce costs.

a vivid magenta like ink set is now available for the 48/78/9800 which is also about half the epson price
this gives a better colour gamut especially for proofing systems

I have not had any experience with continous ink systems. Out of 3 people
I know that said that they used a system like that only 1 actually talked
positive. So I would not invest a lot before I am sure.

maybe you select the original cartridge have not trouble.but it cost is very high.you can buy a set for testing.really,there some continous ink systems's performance art stable,can avoid the expensive ink cost.
