Running a 2001 SM 52. this last week started having movement issues with 2nd unit circumferential register. hairline adjustments may move much more than intended and takes too many sheets to recover on the fly so must shut down and start over with MR. These movements are only while press is moving, but sometimes it is just erratic. Any guidance will be appreciated.

Normally this is due to wear in the guide pin and bushing in the plate cylinder double gear assembly (under gear side drop down cover). Some models had a grease zirc, which lubricated the large brass bushing on the center of the outer gear of that assembly. I replaced many of these in my years of travels.

  • Yes, junker1984 is right. Lubrification the blue one is most important, lots of printers forget. Also, the posibility of moving the plate cylinder manualy by hand - open the 4 screws, move the cylinder forwarding + backwarding, lubricate.
