I'm running a 2021 Heidelberg 102 CD. I am getting pressure streaks and would like to know if anyone knows what the number should be on the Packing gauge. I haven't used one in a long long time. Not sure what number to look for. we have 15 pts under our Saphira 4500 UV blanket. man, I am getting really tired of this problem. please some advice id needed. Thank you, Chris

It should be 2.35mm. So on standard blanket 1.95mm you need 0.4mm packing.
You can find all needed informations at your Cp/manual

Adil, on the printing unit. the blanket should be slightly lower than the bearer, correct. I just dont know what that number on the gauge should be.

    Hi cdel
I asked you the question to know which group you are talking about so in the printing group there is a 2.3mm hollow in the blanket cylinder so you have to put a 1.95mm thick blanket and a 0.4mm blue calibrated sheet the 0.05 difference is essential to have a good printing pressure. on the other hand in the varnish group the hollow is 3.2mm so you have to put a 1.95mm blanket and calibrated sheets in total 1.3mm thick if you use polymer plates you can put a 1.15mm polymer plate and a flexible covering especially for the 2.1mm polymer here is the whole configuration of all the groups so that each person looking to ask this question has the answer.
Good like , if you need some training regarding the printing field we provide it .

The Baldwin Blanket Packing Gauge is a tool primarily used in the printing and manufacturing industries to measure the thickness of packing materials utilized in printing presses. It assists in guaranteeing the accurate packing thickness, which is essential for maintaining consistent print quality and press performance.

Not a very accurate definition, but ya, we’ll go with that.

Whats of the most importance is that the plate to blanket "squeeze" amounts to .004" if you are running compressible blankets. It matter less just how you get there (within reason), than that you actually get there. It should go without question that all units should be of equal plate height!!! Ive seen the cylinder undercuts vary from unit to unit by as much as .0015". This will result in print length variation from unit to unit unless its compensated for.

If you’re using a standard packing gauge (not a thickness gauge), the body is placed on the blanket and the dial is on the bearer. I’ve always liked the blanket cylinder to measure about even (.000”). Then when the gauge is used the same way on the plate cylinder with a plate mounted, it should hopefully be .002-.004” over. This will give you the correct amount of printing squeeze while also not shrinking or lengthening the original image.
