Asking for recommendations for plotter/cutter

I have been using a laser printer to print transparency sheets (8.5" x 11"). I would like to eventually get a printer that is fed a roll of transparency sheet (or a similar material), while also cutting shapes around the graphics I print. I would like to stick with a laser plotter instead of inkjet, since laser printing has higher resolution in my experience. However, I heard that laser printers not capable of printing on a continuous medium (if so, can anyone explain why?) so if inkjet is the only option, then that's fine. Can anyone recommend a plotter/cutter combination for me?
