nothing wrong with a plate burner mate, use positive metal plates and a decent postscript laser printer, print in reverse and expose on the print down frame is what i do for most of my work. i also use poly plates that go straight through a laser printer for basic printing with little to no halftones. if i need 4 colour films printed out i get a mate in another print shop to output them on his imagesetter, i dont need the problem of the chemicals and waste as i think this year ive got him to do 5 sets of films, as i said the rest is done in house. the plates should come pre punched as its a 25 pin bar standard and i use the standard roller wash from chem co, i also buy my posi plate developer from there

For polyester plates I know many people use and like the Xante' Myride 2 polyester plates I have a couple different kinds but like the Xante' they seem to perform well. I just bought an HP 5100 laser jet about 400.00-500.00 on ebay for a good one many people use these I run my plate through and then run it through again real fast while it is still hot with one little dot on a period where it don't matter like further down the page this allows the plate toner to burn in real well works great for me. If you buy the Xante' there is a smother glossier side and a little not as glossy side burn on the not so glossy side.. I think most of the poly plates work well I got feedback that the xante' don't stretch as bad they do seem to be made better also from the three different kinds I have
