We currently have an AB Dick 360 and 375 that will not ink up. Using a rubber based ink. I am using the same solution we have used for years. Even tried different amounts of ink on the controls. Any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks, Jon

I'm not sure what you mean by inking up — not distributing through all the rollers or not inking up an attached plate. Either way I'm guess that your rollers are out of adjustment with the press driven rollers and also pressure on the plate. They may have been borderline out of adjustment and cold temperatures have caused the rubber rollers to shrink and not ink up. After all what would make two presses start this at the same time. Try adjusting the forms to the press distributor roller and also to the plate.

  • Tim,
Thanks for the info I will try this. I did mean ink not getting onto the master.

Locate form roller adjustments there are four. Adjustment consist of 2 screws or studs about 2 inches long for each side of the roller. Top one is the eccentric adjustment the bottom screw is the lock. Top form adjusting screw should turn clockwise on the operator side to increase pressure. It is possible that it could be 180 degrees out, just keep turning clockwise or towards the feed end till form pressure increases. The gear side of the press upper form to increase turn counter clockwise or towards the feed side of the press. Be sure to make a stripe from the form roller to the plate by placing the control lever into the ink position with the form knobs turned counter clockwise for the off position and turning clockwise to make contact and back off again to produce a stripe onto the plate. Stripe for upper form is 1/8" to 5/32" of an inch. Bottom form is just the opposite. Turn toward the delivery side to increase. Stripe should be 5/32" to 3/16" of an inch. Water ductor should be checked after upper form adjustment.
