3302 plate clamps

OK, finally got my water & toning under control, on to the next issue.
I can't get a good bite on 2nd unit tail clamp NOPS.

Set them per the service manual on both units, all but this one I'm happy with.

Pulled the whole assembly out of the press today to see what could be wrong.
Brought it home where I have the right tools and fought for an hour to tear it
apart. Never seen so much rust, corrosion and gunk. Cleaned everything up with
solvent and a wire wheel, bought all new cap bolts and chased all the threaded holes with a tap. Put it back together and got the same results on the bench. Being totally disgusted at this point, I wrapped it up for the day and came in to watch Judge Judy while I picked your brains.

The only thing I can see that might be a problem is the inserts on the clamp plates
have a lot of wear, but it is pretty even between the OPS side and the NOPS side.
I suppose I could swap them and see if that makes a difference. The cam bolts
look okay to me.

there are a couple of different clamps on the ryobi, i have shimed the skid plate out to take up wear on the cam in the past. but one machine, i had stainless steel clamps made for half the price of OEM parts and they are bullet proof, they look cool too! fixed the fit problem.
