2005 Heidelberg printmaster 74 feeder problems

When running heavier stock it is nearly impossible to get double sheet lifting stopped.
I have tried different suckers, different ends ,metal, brush, reduced suction more or less blow but to no avail.
I've tried bending the stock, rolling it but it is a nightmare.
Could someone give me a few pointers please.
The sheet size is 380x680 cut 4up from a larger sheet.I know there are grain issues.
Also is there an encoder on the feeder somewhere?
Help appreciated
Thank you

Hi ali
since you have tried everything you must ensure that the sheets are not attached from the cutter (a poorly sharpened knife can cause this problem) play a little on the level of the margin table and the air of the sides and the air of the spade foot

  • Still no luck.
The guillotine had sharp blade and there was is no edge on it.I know what you mean as regard cut and something I lookout for.
Have tried all sorts of air supply unto the job but still a nightmare.Have tried every setting but it will even lift 3/4 sheets. It is 320 GSM nice and flat etc ,you would imagine it would run perfect.
When I try different stock I can get machine running again fine.
    It's weird.
I am running out of ideas.

Any ideas on how to stop ,or help this.
It does seem to be worse in warmer weather
1st of all just "air" the stack. The best way is using a pile turner with air blower and give the paper a good blow;)
That happens because paper is a semiconductor and static charge is getting bigger with temperature or when humidity is too low. Air between the sheets dissipates the electricity charge. You can also get damp sponge (just damp, not soaking wet) and wipe the paper stack with it.

And of course check you discharging device is working if you have one

On the menu Turn on the electrostatic if uou have this option if you dont have put pieces of cable strands in contact with the leaves in the feeder and the mass in the axis of the lifting suction cups (it's a trick that I do to absorb electrostatic energy).
Also you can turn off the double sheet ultrasonic fromthe menu , i must be there to remember the right page

Turning DSD off is asking for troubles. Especially if you have feeding issues.

Have you any photos of this on your machine?
    Would appreciate
    Thank you

It's called ionising unit, not discharging device, my bad
