The transfer grippers grab sheet at the head stops then transfer to the impression cylinders grippers before sheet gets to 1st unit blanket it drops the sheet

Also, model and date of manufacture would help tremendously.

Is there a relief (flattened out) area on the top of the cam? It’s quite visible, and if so, it’s equipped with what the Germans called the “wonder cam”. If it has this configuration, badly worn grippers and pads will cause the issue you’re seeing, but just as important, a worn cam follower may also come into play. Worst case, a worn out gripper bar must be looked into.

Yes the first unit cam has a relief spot which is something I was not familiar with before. its seems that some grippers 2,4,7,8,9, are worse than the others . was thrown off track with the "wonder cam" and the exact reason for it

Purpose is, for grippers 3,6,9 and 12 to stay closed on sheet while all others open for 1 degree to let sheet relax. These settings cannot be properly done without degree wheel. On another note, did you just buy a new cam from an unscrupulous EBay seller in MN?

My way of a joke. Do you need to return it? The follower bearing has not scored the cam, then?

Not sure on return . but I'm thinking we don't need to spend the hours pulling the cam out and no cam is smooth
