1999 Speedmaster 52 4 color, Unit 4 blanket wash up device not working

    The cloth starts to advance but then stops after about 10 seconds. Any thoughts to the problem? Tries switching out ones from other units to that unit but still does it

    Likely failed sensor directly under cartridge side frame gear side. Might try wiping off any debris.

    Hi look for my colleague Junker say Sensor, dirty, however try to see the plug if are loose, or broken, or corroded.
    Try to exchagne with another that is working and see if the problem dissapear.
    You will know if the sensor is Good or bad.
    Let me know any question or doubt about

    what does the sensor exactly look like? Is it LED? Looked in parts book for it, is it 2?

    Take the cartridge out of the unit and look on the drive side track where the cartridge runs along you will see 2 sensors above the track. The first one in senses the cartridge is in position the second one senses the roll is being wound
    via a gear on the cartridge. If you put a screwdriver on the bottom of the sensor a small red led will light up this means it's working. Sometimes the cable is in the way and you cant see it properly so you may have to change your position or use a small mirror. If they both light up then it will be cloth drive motor located inside the drive side guard. The motor can become sluggish and not wind the cloth correctly so the software picks this up and it shows as a faulty drive

    You can test if you look with t Camera of his cell phone , since they are I.R
    the camera will detect the Light only by the Camera of his cell, or any Cellular phone

    Appreciate all the feedback . Used the screwdriver test. They both light up. So according to contractor post must be the cloth drive motor. What does it look like or part #, and is it possible to clean it or does it need replaced? Thanks

    Hi you can clean it with water .
    Very carefully you must Turn Off the power.
    See if there are some screw loose, and tight and the same the connector(s).
    And try it. .and do the same for the rest of Sensor.

    If u are referring to the cloth motor, what exactly dos it look like on the drive side guard

    Its no. xm13 Heidelberg part no. G2.144.1171 Servo drive.
    I've never repaired one it could the motor or the gear box which is attached to it, it's really not feasible to repair just replace it.
    Washing it in water will definitely not help probably make it worse. It's inside the drive side guard and hidden behind the covers no.1 and 2. It unbolts from screws 16 then slides out and unplug the wires and you have to swap the drive gear no.4 onto the new motor make sure you put it in the same position on the new motor. If it's too daunting maybe junker can come do it for you!

    Hi did refer to clean sensors with water .
    Now the colleague show the Servo drive how to look, great
    Better Replace it by new one

    Remember use the Water for clean to Sensors.
    For other parts, you must use WD-40, or other solvents,like Isopropyl Alcohol 100%, or other special
    Cleaner Spray, like sell in any auto parts.
    Hope you fix it.

    The SM52 blanket/impression washer is very simple and very easy to troubleshoot. First thing to check is to see if the towel is actually moving when doing a wash. Best to do this in manual mode. Manually move the towel either forward or backward in the service screen and physically watch the towel with a flashlight to confirm movement both forward and backward. If no movement likely its a bad servo motor. Next check the 2 proximity sensors. Both are on the DS of the machine and both are above the washer itself. Since both of these sensors are inductive sensors, they will react with the tip of a screwdriver. Simply place the tip of a screwdriver on the tip of the sensor and you should see a red LED come on of it detects the screwdriver. Be aware that the LED on either sensor are not always easy to see. Next check to see if the sensors work with the washer in the press. To do this, remove the towel from the washer and install the washer. The sensor farthest in the press detects towel movement. This is done with a toothed gear that the sensor will detect the high and low spots of this gear. Confirm that this sensor is 1mm from the toothed gear. Also, manually turn this gear and confirm that the LED is turning on/off with each high/low spot on the toothed gear. The second sensor which is closest to the outside of the press, this detect that the washer is installed in the press and also that there is sufficient towel on the roll. You will see a small 7mm head bolt on the DS of the washer, this is what this sensor is looking for. Confirm that the screw head is 1mm from the sensor and that the screw is pointed in the 12 oclock or straight up position. In this position, the LED should be on. Most commonly, the problem is the sensor for towel movement either is incorrectly set, or is bad. I have also replaced many servo motors as well though. Good luck with your repair

    Good afternoon. I work with a 1999 SM 52 in 5 colors and I have the same problem but in all units. My question is whether the error of a sensor in one unit can affect all the other units and prevent blanket washing? Thank you for your answers. Greetings

    Not likely. Check your error display for low solution, water and pneumatic pressure at tank.

    Hello. The problem is on unit 1. What happens is that when washing the washing cloth roll, as soon as the order is executed the 1M13 motor begins to rotate and suddenly it can no longer rotate and an emergency stop occurs and the error "Washing cloth shaft turns" is displayed on Cptronic (Attached image). I thought the motor was defective but I tested it manually and it rotated together with the washing cloth roll. The 1B300 sensor was checked and is working perfectly, the washing cloth roll is adhered correctly (the adhesive on the used cloth is OK). Do you have any idea? Thanks for your answer.
