12x18 or 18x12 to create booklets that won't flop or fold over in the rack

When printing fairly thin booklets that will be displayed in plastic racks one issue is that after a while they tend to droop down in the racks. Would the grain direction help with this? For a 9x12 finished size booklet printed on 12x18 and folder, would you print on 12x18 or 18x12 stock? Would you ever mix the two to obtain a stiffer booklet in both directions?

You'd want 18x12 if the finished book sits 9x12 with the 12" vertical. 12x18 if the 9" sits vertical. You can also shrinkwrap with a cardboard backer to help the droop if cost effective. Or try to display them on less of a angle if possible. What type of booklets?
