How many fold plates does it take to do a 10 page accordian fold?

You'll need a map folder to do it. You'll need at least 6 plates in the first unit. I think you'll need 5 plates if i understand you correctly.

Is this a 5 panel = 10pg? What I will describe is a tandem parallel:
If it is and you have a right angle for your folder you can run it inline with the main unit and achieve the same outcome. In the first section of the folder do 1 up and 1 down fold in plates 1 & 2-close off fold gates 3 & 4. As it comes out and travels down the unit that is now running inline with the main, you will need to set the 1 & 2 fold plates on the next section & close 3 & 4. It is tricky getting the roller tensions but, it does work very well. You can also score as it comes out the second unit and fold in half if needed. I hope this helps and isn't too confusing.
