  1. MRI Safe after handling toner and carrier?

    It's plastic so I'm sure it's safe. ....
  2. Fuser not detacking

If RAM oil is really bad I've had light paper stick and jam before. Airknife a little tighter works better for thin stock. But generally it doesn't move or cause problems.
  3. Igen5 carrier usage

2-3 bottles / day is about right. You can adjust purge settings in NVMs which will use more or less carrier depending on your needs. 80 (better quality) to 140 (lower quality) Default settings are somewhere in the middle. During high volume low coverage jobs I might lower these settings to...
  4. iGen3 Stacker Folding Corners

Does it happen on all stocks? Lighter paper is more easily affected by static/etc. Reducing static will prevent dog-earring. If on heavy stocks too, then static isn't the problem. Probably the stacker belts or something broken. Usually taking the time to watch and inspect the machine closely...
  5. Stacker not stacking :)

The TE kick happens to me quite a bit. But it should pick it up and straighten out in time for stacking. Late to VGT entrance or exit sensor? Whatever it is late to the problem is somewhere just before it (obviously). Test different stock thicknesses. Does it always jam? Any roller marks showing...
  6. Magenta Slowly Washing Out

Had the opposite happen before. Was adding Magenta instead of removing it. Technician fixed it, he did a bunch of things. Center ETAC, TC calibration, Developer change. Maybe other things too, I think he played with hot gas bypass settings too. Idk what fixed it, but it has not returned since.
  7. iGen4 Technician recommendation

Speaking from an operator perspective I would say most companies like to hire operators as cheaply as possible. The igen4's and up are big improvements over the igen3's which require more downtime for maintenance. But still, there is a major difference between a good operator and some guy off...
  8. Humidity problems

Thanks guys. Back to 20% today. I guess it was just a long streak of cold/dry weather that hit us. Nothing we could do. We used a couple phone-a-friend lifelines and nobody had a great way to combat the bad humidity (without spending ridiculous amounts of money). I guess lots of places were...
  9. Humidity problems

*edited for format / update 1. Getting a mottled transfer for all colors, Magenta is worst, Black looks acceptable (assuming due to timing from charge station to transfer) 2. Technicians have all agreed it's humidity-related and not much can be done other than adjusting transfer settings for...
  10. washing PR belts?

I'm back (for the summer)! Yes we run pre-printed stock all the time on the igen4 and fuser oil contamination is normal. It doesn't show up on our prints until we switch to a job with more coverage. I've spent many hours trying to solve this problem. Essentially, you can stop to do...
  11. Fuser web not picking up all debris

Higher coverage jobs lead to more buildup, do you typically run a lot of that? Your tech can do a web/external roll contact arc adjustment. If you reset the count to 0 when you replace the web it will turn faster in the beginning. You could increase the normal speed of the web, although I don't...
  12. PR belts: Is it just me?

Just as MarkD said, the only time I have problems is when those two rollers on the bottom aren't wiped down very good. Other than that, IDKMYBFFJILL.
  13. virgin igen 4 operater

Cheap cheap. I never understood why they're so willing to pay a million dollars for a machine, but the operators nothing. Why hire experienced operators or pay for training when we can just put pressure on someone with no experience and stress them out until they either learn it or quit? Oh...
  14. back from vacation :(

Aww, no more silk stock and car wax on the PR Belts! I bet you miss it already ;)
  15. iGen3

Agreed with Mark & peels "less is more". It's a lot of work to prevent all problems from happening. It's easier (and in many cases more efficient) to wait until they occur, then deal with them. That's not to say you shouldn't do preventative maintenance, but when you're new to the igen it's a...
  16. starting my day with this one xpe-06-4411

Yeah there are a lot of issues with freeflow. We run a lot of volume, and freeflow after a while gets buggy and requires a reboot. We've tried every software installation known to man and always sign up to test the latest version. The best advice Xerox has given is to reboot the DFE at the start...
  17. 1st Side Image Binding Edge

Hard to picture what you are describing. What do the marks look like?
  18. Remote Server Communication Failure on PSIP

Apparently, the new software upgrade that Xerox forced upon us contains a password change that when it communicates with the server it does not authenticate. They were aware that some customers were having this problem. Umm...a bulletin or something would have been nice Xerox!! Way to fill us...
  19. Xpe-06-4161 & xpe-03-4017

Following up, these faults returned with a vengeance and we had been dealing with them for months...until yesterday that is. The Magenta ROS finally fried and would not allow the machine to cycle up. So a new ROS has been installed. Finally! No more rebooting for this crap.
