Oh No! Ran out of Grease in Central Lubrication

There is no substitute grease I am aware of sold at a hardware store that works in place of Optimol Longtime PD2. Do not try to use another grease as the Optimol was designed to be used with the helical cut main drive gears. Unfortunately I am not aware of a way to bypass this safety feature.

Tone bar on QM DI 46-4

Is it on the first or second pass? What is the temperature of the room and cooling unit? Are you running coated or uncoated?

    Plate wash issue

It is also possible the Tesamol foam strip is worn and the cloth is not able to apply enough pressure to the plate to wash it properly. These strips get damaged if you ever accidently run out of cloth and the foam ends up contacting the plate. If you have an airleak in one of the air pistons...

Qm di 46 4 classic model "home sensor error"

If you removed the laser carriage from the rail you have a focus problem now. The heads are set at a specific height from the plate at the factory. There are special alignment tools for this process. They are pins with a diameter of 9.144. These are supposed to be put under the imaging carriage...

QMDI classic error message -FUSEFLT=FALSE. -OVRCURRENT = FALSE

The problem is definitely related to the 5v/36v power supply when this error comes up. Somewhere the Laser Drive Modules are not getting the voltage. I have seen this when the fuse on the power supply is blown.

Qm di 46 4 classic model "home sensor error"

It means the Imaging unit has not found its home position. During the imaging process, the imaging unit goes all the way to one side of the press, comes back past the home sensor then moves back towards the sensor and stops. This is how it finds it start position before imaging. If something is...

    Cylinder maintenance / recommended grease

The Molykote is meant for the QM46-2 machines they do not exert the pressure on the gears that is seen on the QMDI. I was not aware the Renolit was recommended for the Central Lubrication on the QMDI, it was always the Optimol Longtime PD2.

    Cylinder maintenance / recommended grease

On the QMDI, the white lithium grease is not to be used on the main drive gears it is not strong enough to with stand the pressures. The grease used for the central lubriction system is Optimol Longtime PD2. It is designed to be used on Helical cut gears under heavy loads.

Quick Colour Adjustments Without A Spectrometer

Is that dot percentage being read from the printed sheet or from the settings you have in the RIP?

    yellow ink problem

The values of C,M,K will vary based on the dot gain of the ink. When the press is first set up you are supposed to run linear plates at all the screen values from 0 - 100% then read the printed sheet Dot Gain so you know what your ink gain is (There is a form that comes with the RIP for this.)...

    wash-up problem in QMDI

If I were to bet on this I would say Marc has the right problem highlighted. There is an air leak causing the press to stop during the wash up process. It is probably one of the air bladders in the wash up device itself. Image 60% Screen on all for plates and do a wash up. The one that has...

DI Stopping When all 4 colors engaged!!

Look at the air pressure guage on the air compressor. If it gets below 6.5 bars when you put everything on impression the press with stop. Like Frank said, it could be air. One of the short stroke pistons is leaking if I were to guess.

Check the fuse on your SLM boards in the control cabinet. There are two of them. One for the Delivery and one for the Feeder Pile. They use 10 amp slow blow fuses.

    QMDI Classic Keeps Stopping

The cabinet starts to show electrical issues if the outside temperature of the doors get above 114F. Typically the machine does not cut off when this happens but random imaging issues start to happen.

Problems feeding thick paper on QMDI

If you use SF69 during the run on your console you will be able to watch what the pile is doing during the run. This shows the 11B2 sensor status which is responsible for monitoring the pile height. If it reads "DEEP" your sensor may need adjustment or the pile height bar may have a broken roll...
