So my work has me running this old planeta (1986) and it has a real annoying problem with framing on the coater blanket (the framing is with coating), the packing used is just another blanket trimmed to match the die, any suggestions?

It's funny, on our 52, we run the same varn powder, I think the same spray box, set at 1-2 and every Friday it looks like Christmas in the delivery! So we clean it out, later, rinse and repeat.... If we turn it down lower it too will set off. I feel your pain...

When I run gold first down, it emulsifies after about 10,000 imps, and always creeps in from the gear side. roller setting?

What do you pack you blankets at? What is the caliper of your blankets? Are thier any colors that build up more then others on this unit? Could be a bad fountain mix.

Don't let tack control your order, use tack reducer if needed, most inks are unitack but yellow doesn't trap Very well if first down. I usually run kcmy and will go mkcy or cmyk, but yellow is best left last if needed to trap. Metallics I will run in units 1, 2, 3, or 6, if I need to.
