To second this ,if your operator is cleaning the roller in the parts washer the naphtha might be swelling it .

Have you checked the plate loading roller? There should be a small roller that rides on the plate as its loading to keep pressure on the cylinder. If it's funky or has too much pressure it might be scratching your plate as you load.

Can you post a picture of the spots? Are they in a row or random?

Another issue with these are the stop fingers being too high or bent,out if adjustment. This will cause the problem you are seeing slso.

On the operation side it has a badge that should say 3302h or 3302 ha or 3302m. The part number I gave you is for the m however I can get the ha and ha numbers if needed.

If you have a stepped fountain those clutches will not work . On that unit it's a bushing so the pawl and ratchet wheel is most likely worn out.

The clutches are for the stepless only. When you press them use a wood block or something soften the covers have a tendency to give a little.
