I've seen some of their automated setups and they are quite amazing.

If it's still running you should make a video. It's a neat little piece of history. I've seen them do some interesting things too like print on wedding napkins.

Year, make, model what in your opinion is the best paper cutter out there and why?

What was wrong with the black gradient? Was it printing faint? Can you repeat or reword the problem with the Cyan?

A little late but you may want to have one company print the checks then send that printed stock to someone who specialized in embossing. I don't think it's typical for one place to have all those specialty options.

Have you checked into any roll feed options? Kodak, Fujifilm, and I think a few others offer inkjet based roll to roll print options. This would let you do color less expensively, print on wider formats, do variable data if needed, and let you save on paper costs. I'd check them all out...

All pretty sweet shops. Plenty of space. Just put some anti-fatigue mats down in front and you're good to go. That's the first I've seen 4 stackers on the docutechs. I knew it was possible but never actually seen that set up. What kind of jobs do most of yous do? books/catalogs...

I'd say offset on the newsletters. If you need to address them you can get an address printer that uses liquid ink and mailing software.

Pics, meter reads, condition? Is all the software and server with the units?

whew...it all sounds so overwhelming...

Test many papers out too. We've had some glossy stocks go bad just from sitting there. Some don't age well. Also, many non-glossy stocks work and look much better than glossy ones.
