Anyone that can make comparison between these two machines? And why is QMDI Pro so much more expensive than Plus. Is the IR dryer the only issue? Is there a third party IR dryer that can upgrade Plus model?

The Pro model of the QMDI uses the same feeder as an SM52 which is the main reason for the cost difference when compared to a Plus. The other major difference it the use of the CP2000 console. Most everything else is the same.

That explains a lot. I suppose that the IR dryer must be an option on Pro?

The IR Dryer was an option for all of the QMDI's although a majority of the Pro's sold had them, per the customers request.

Very few Classics had dryers and if I were to guess maybe 1/3 of the Plus machines were sold with IR dryers.

I have also herd that pro uses lesser plates if the image is smaller than SRA3 saving a lot of money. Is that the only advantage of CP200 console? Does the Karat use the same feature?

Yes the PRO does have a plate save mode.......the CP2000 console has many other advantages including ease of use.
