Duplo DC 10-60 and carbonless

Hello, I have an opportunity to purchase a used Duplo DC 10 60 collator and I am wondering if this equipment is well suited for carbonless assembly.
I currently have an old friction collator that does a lot of downtime.
I plan to use the Duplo almost exclusively for collating NCR (2 to 5 parts / 16# carbonless).
You who have this type of equipment, what is your experience? Is it more efficient than a friction collator for this purpose?

 

Yes, it's good choice BUT
the small feeding rollers inside the machine and the feeding
rollers at the back side must be in very good condition otherwise
you will have scratchs at the paper.

Do you know if NCR is fed reliably and productively on this machine (with as few stops as possible). On my old friction tower I average 850 sets per hour (3 parts NCR), which seems very slow to me.

 

It depence of the size and the quality of the paper.
When I was technician of them I can run the machine up to
6-8000 sets with 80 gr plain paper without problems.
Just to be sure ,you can arange to check the machine before you buy it
and make some test.

I planned to test NCR on the machine before purchasing, but since it's a bit far away and I'll only have limited time to test, I'm asking around first. In spite of the time I spent searching on the net, there is very little information in the forums on this subject and the manual of the machine does not even mention the term NCR once, unlike the one of my old CP Bourg friction collator (BT12) which gives specific settings.
The NCR I use most often is 60 gr SRA4 (8.8 x 12.6 inch). Much more rarely, I assemble the same paper in SRA3 (17.7 x 12.6 inch)

 

You must check also if you have perforating sheets.
For all the others adjustments I can help you to set-up the machine for ncr paper.

what do you mean by "you must check if you have perforating sheets" ?
I usually collate printed NCR sheets (with a Riso duplicator or Comcolor), then I glue them with self-separating glue and finally I run the glued sets through a Morgana FSN to perforate them.

 

Sometimes we collate perforated sheets and after we glue them.
In your case it's ok.

 

@Fts: In several videos, I have seen that when you start the collator, there is a long delay before the first sheets are collated. Is this the case every time you stop collating and start again?
In a previous post you said that the small feed rollers inside the machine and the ones at the exit should be in very good condition. Does that mean that they have to be changed often? Or that they will most likely have to be changed as soon as I buy the machine? Have a nice weekend.

 

Yes, every time that you start the machine you have to wait until the loaded plates find the correct height to start
feeding.
The small roller doesn't need often replace maybe every 5-7 years but I don't know in
what condition is yours also about the exit rollers.
I change them only in customers that they pass lightweight papers after 5 years with daily use for 4-8 hours.
They collect inks and dust and their surface is getting rought so they make marks or scratches at the lightweight
papers.
But you can change the plates for your job, you have 10 and you will use 3-4 every time.
It has also inside some plastic strips that they need often replace, maybe once a year but they are cheap around 50euro all
and you can also make them by yourself and the separator plastic strips (2 on each plate) which you can replace by yourself.

 

Hi Fts, sorry for being long without answering your last post. Finally the machine I wanted to buy had a serious problem that the seller detected while preparing it to sell it to me and he preferred to cancel the sale. According to him the machine is now out of order.
