Thanks Rusty, I am currently Running a 7600 and I've been running Indigos since 1997 before HP bought them. I must say the new 7600 software is buggy as hell and man you can only have a few windows open before the UI locks up... How do you handle charge roller maintenance? I am always looking for new ideas ya know

Where pretty lucky our machine has been running without any problems at all, we are averaging around 1.7 mill imp a month, so much less less down time than the series 1 and 2 machines. Charge roller maintenance is done each morning its taken out and the charge roller, steel roller and the carbon brushs are cleaned with IPA. Roller is replaced when machine asks for it or when we can rainbow effects.

Ya man, that seems to be the norm but I've not seen a charge roller last a million clicks as the paperwork states it will. Outside of that the new version of software is quite buggy and you can only have a few windows open at any given time or the UI will lock up and then a reboot is required.....Thanks for chatting here Rusty and ya keep your eyes and ears open so that we can keep each other up to date so to speak...

    ~brian

PS how many clicks do you have and how many machines?

Rusty, I hope all is well and we are well over 2mil clicks now and this new press seems to be breaking in well. Have ya run across any issues you would like to discuss?

The press is still running really well, when we got the press we also got a spare parts kit which contains belts, motors and boards so when something goes it doesn't seem as bad as your not waiting for parts. The one main issue we have had is the pip clamp which has been replaced three times, other than that all pretty good.

Hi guys, been running the 7900 since about February 2021; before that was using a 5500 for a couple of years. I did get the Level 1 training for the 7900, which has made things so much easier for me! Would love to compare notes with other 7000 series operators. Especially if anyone has experience with the new Silver ink.

    Best wishes, Mike

Thank you very much, and good to meet you. My main question at this point is why do the BID bases seem to go bad so quickly? Our first silver job was maybe only 15k impressions. I gave it 3 OFIR flushes, then stored it properly... then 3 weeks later tried to use it again, and it was leaking from the very start, badly enough to splash the prints.

    Thanks again, Mike

As far as I know and help customer to work with Silver. Seems that storing Silver BID Base longer than 1-2 weeks is causing a lot od BID Base issues. It's just silver. But if you are HP customer, you should use warranty for BID Base and ask for a new one without charge. Maximum lifespan for BID Base is 150k impressions, for developer 100k - if I remember correctly.

Thank you very much for that information. We have been operating in the dark on this. Can you tell me how to use the warranty to get silver bid replacements?

Just contact your service/distributor. Tell them that BID Base is "Dead on Production" Very early.

Ok thanks again for the information. My latest problem is that the bid in use seems to have spit silver ink underneath the PIP and it’s hard to clean off of the under layer. Just using imaging oil and lint free cloths. Is there any better way to clean it or does the under layer just have to be replaced?

If bid is spitting under the PIP try to lower ink flow.

I will try that on the next job. This whole process has just been horrible, constant problems. HP has given us no training on it, and I feel like silver needs specific on site training to go well. I will try your idea of lowering the ink flow. Also, you mentioned getting free silver BID’s when the silver BID’s die early? How do I do that?

Silver is very specific. About guarantee for BID, please contact HP/reseller which is taking care of your press.
