    I bought a used Docucolor 240 with a bazillion copies on it and it came with a back-up unit that I have pretty much stripped of most of its parts (it had been dropped so it had all sorts of problems, but lots of good parts). The machine has worked like a champ. I do not have a service contract and buy parts as needed (often) to keep it running. All that said, I am needing a second machine. I was thinking of getting another 240 but should i be looking at a 2045 or a 6060? I would like something a little faster, and a little cheaper to run (on consumables) as I am paying for all parts and such. If you have any suggestions with regard to the 240 vs the 2045 or the 6060 i sure would appreciate the input. Are there other numbered Xerox units I should be looking at? Thanks!

    How many prints do you have on your 240 and how many per month are you looking to run over the next year?

    Recommendations for a 2nd Docucolor

    I am about about to celebrate 4 million copies with my 240. I'd like to keep it printing 200 to 300 thousand 12 x 18 sides per month. I KNOW, I am lucky that I have gotten this far with this machine! What do you think?

    Sorry - your volume is 10x greater than ours so I'll have to step aside and let someone else comment. I was curious when you said you had been through a ton of parts as we've been really pleased so far, but our volume is only 1/10th yours. (glad to hear that the 240 frame runs up to 4 million 12x18 though :))

    Someone else who runs greater volume on their docucolors please step in and comment!

    We are a third party leasing company, since 1979 we buy/sell/lease Hi Speed Laser printers and Intelligent Mailing Equipment & post:

    * add another DC240 @ $13k - 2 machines available now @ 40 ppm ea
    * DC260 @ $19k - 60 ppm same output as your DC240

    * Totally Refurbed 2060 with 700k; $12k .

    This is available as well. Keep in mind though this type of printer may require full service normally as opposed to a 240-252 type.

    * DC5000 @ $43k - 50 ppm & doesn't slow down as much with heavier stocks
    * DC6060 @ $26k - 60 ppm but less resolution 600 dpi - all others above are 2400 dpi

    You know what u have an excellent machine right there. I got one myself and currently looking at options to upgrade the RIP from the standard "built-in" Fiery. Im actually looking at Creo Spire as it appeals to me more.

    Anyways to get your part. I would recommend that you go to maybe a 242/252/260, but then again it seems that they are based on the same engine.
    Just a bit slower.

    Anyways I do sell machines for a living and head over to site - www.photocopiersxl.com. Remember that we can also get used machines too if that is what you do require or on the lest frequent a new machine. Anyways its all down to you really.

    Hope I helped:)
