Hi Im new here, and new to our Offset machine function, I would like to ask, aside from the process color which CMYK we have a special color specific to the artwork, is there any tendencies or is it common that the special color orange will turn to yellow, during running?

    Hi
To print special color you need special ink., other then cmyk.
So total job will be of 5 colors.

If you want to print using 4 color then you have to concert the special color(orange) before ripping using colortoolbox or pdf tools
Then it will look almost the same but result will not good as the job print (cmyk+special)

Thanks for your response, we mix special color orange for specific art work, aside from CMYK. and we conduct investigations because the result for the output is yellow. we suspected that the special color is not applied or used by the operator, because if they used the special color the color variance shall be lighter or darker only, am i correct?

Can you brief on which press job is printing and how.
Is it 5color offset or 4 color?
Is the job printed in one pass or 2 passes?

Our Machine is Heidelberg Ag offset 6 color
The project design has only Orange Yellow
and in the middle, it has the product logo which is supposedly pure Orange
other than the logo the rest is a process color and lamination.

    Ok
    As per you description
    Printing squence is
    K c m y then orange
If this the way then there is no way that orange color get yellow tone.
    May some mistake during printing

Yes, That is correct, I would just like to check and validate my theory, that if they really used the special ink as prescribed, there is no way that it would end up in color yellow.

Most hues of orange should be printable with 4/c process with a willingness to alter the build a bit. If the orange is some sort of corporate identity color and must match perfectly then you will need to make it a 5th color, but otherwise there should be no need. If you should need to alter the file in pre press then just be certain to record the changes for future printings.

Just look at the color in question under a loupe. You can usually see if it’s a process build or not.
