    Hi all,

First post here. I am currently printing 30mm stickers on A5 sheet sticker paper. The stickers are aimed at kids so the designs are colourful. I'm currently using a HP M283 FDW Laser printer and given the extortionate price of HP toner have sourced some decent OEM toner from China in bulk.

The problem I have is even with official HP toner and the Chinese made OEM toner the stickers are not as vivid as I would like, the colours are coming out fairly dull which isn't great for stickers aimed at children. I'm also going through tons of toner and not a big fan of sending all of this plastic into a landfill.

I'm now looking for a new printer and want some advice, I'm not at the stage of needing anything bigger than a desktop printer, but I'm open to spending some cash on it if it provides me with more vivid colours.

    So:

    - For printing out vivid stickers is it best to use inkjet or laser?
    - What's the most economical printer for doing this type of work?
    - Ideally I am looking for something with a larger ink / toner capacity to avoid running out midway through 100 sheets of stickers

I am researching the Epson Eco Tank series so welcome thoughts on that

    Appreciate the support

Have you tried different color settings when sending prints to your current HP laser printer?

Are you working in CMYK or RGB?

If you send a straight cyan, magenta, or yellow color block to your printer, are those colors vivid enough?

Working in CMYK. Using straight CMYK are just a bit dull / dark.

I don't have a HP M283; the menu on the printer should have a test print function to run a test print from the printer itself. See if those colors are equally dull to rule out a driver issue. If so, I'm not sure you'll do better. You won't achieve something like a neon green or fluorescent color with any 4-color printer I'm aware of, but the laser should do colors that are as bright or brighter than a 4-color inkjet on uncoated label stock.
