    Hi there,

I have recently posted about all my problems with my OKI c612n. The main issue, amongst many others, is that the toner doesn't adhere properly to card stock. This printer is supposed to handle up to 250gsm but the toner can be rubbed off easily, with a finger, tissue, or eraser. The fuser has been replaced, which didn't help, and I am starting to think that this printer simply cannot handle 250gsm as it is advertised.

I have now reached the point of wanting to buy a different printer as I really need one to run my small creative business. Can you please recommend a laser printer under $1000 that will actually handle 300gsm (my Oki c612n worked with 300gsm as well as 250gsm)? Ideally an A4 printer, but I will also consider A3.

    Thanks in advance!

    Daria

your OKI C612N should be able to run 250 GSM, these are very forgiving printers, I have a feeling that issue is figuring out how to set it properly unless you use some kind of specific material, in which case "other" printer may have issue with is as well.
You're not going to get A3 printer for under $1K, not a chance. Next step up for OKI, for example would OKI ProColor C930, you may have it offered with different model number in UK but google it - it will give you some idea and thats several grand, I have one with 15,000 pages on it and it sold $2K+ in a week on Ebay.
May be best strategy would be to find a local Designer forum and ask if anyone has similar printer to yours and ask if you could stop by to see how that person sets it up for jobs.
