Im looking for help figuring out the correct reserve oil level that's involved in the switching from straight printing to perfecting on my 1989 Heidelberg SM 52. The machine is stopping due to the oil level, I have the correct oil but not the oil level/depth measurement needed to determine the correct fill height. I was under the impression fill height must be precise, with the risk of damage if overfilled. Any suggestions? Thank you!!! IMG_0952.jpg

these is for withdrawal, what does the machine display at the reception desk and at the margin.

    Hi sir:

Please 1) see if the level oil in the reservoir is o.k??, if the level is too low the the correspondly symbol flash in the system display.

    2) test the sensor 15 B48: Pin1 : +24Vdc +Pin #2 Gnd

3)Look for the Motor oil M47 if is working, measure the voltages in the terminal of Motor,Reset

    4) When the press is switched on, the central

lubrication system is ready for operation.
    Lubrication is triggered either automatically:
    < 100000 i.p.h. – every 5000 sheets
    > 100000 i.p.h. – every 24000 sheets
or by means of the 7th function button ”Manual grease lubrication¨

    5) Test the main contactor 15K47M, for lubri Motor, if is working or defective, or dirty, test the input voltage and output voltage for the Motor M47.

    6) Reset the circuit breaker for Motor M47, # 15Q47 , use his schematic electrical diagrams

    Dear Chock,
You confused hydraulic oil with central lubrication

    Hi Brayan,
There is no oil level indicator for hydraulic pump. If you look from above, behind the block where these 3 sensors are located, you will see a small reed switch sit on intensifier. Once the oil level is low, the cylinder inside intensifier has a bigger stroke and it passes the reed switch. To fill the system with oil, do as follow:
    - disconnect supply hose to the machine (quick coupling on top of the block)
    - turn the supply unit and hold it vertical
    - open the allen head bolt cap
    - put a long slim rod or screw driver into the hole and push it all the way down.
    - rinse oil inside the hole
    - put the cap back and tight it.
    - connect supply tube
    And check sheet reversing procedure.

Send me your email and I can provide you more instruction.

    Good luck,

    Hi Bryan:

Thank you for my correction about my error from Mathew ,about Hydraulic oil vs central lubrication

However you must test the following sensors for the hydraulic system for Sheet reversing drum :

    1) nb hydraulic pressure 34=

The sensor informs the electronic control system when a hydraulic pressure of 87 bars has been reached. measure +24Vdc between pins

    2) nB33 Hydraulic pressure 31 bars

The sensor informs the electronic control system when a hydraulic pressure of 31 bars has been reached., measure +24Vdc between 2 pins

    3) nB40 Oil level hydraulics

The sensor registers contact-free the position of the piston of the pressure intensifier. When the piston reaches the sensor, the sensor transmits a signal to the electronic control system. The signal reports insufficient oil. Hydraulic oil (press oil of the central lubrication system) must be ADDED( Check the oil level please), and measure the Voltage +24Vdc between pins

    4)nB41 Hydraulic pressure 10 bars

The sensor informs the electronic control system, measure the +24Vdc between 2 pins

Any faulty sensor, or lack of oil of the central lubrication system, will be appear fault, (Test the sensors, and Add oil as indicated please)

    Blessing

    Matthew,
    Thank you for your response.
On my "change over compressor" I will get an error light with an oil can emblem #3. The #3 unit is pictured above, I was interested in knowing the distance from the top of the reserve tank to correct oil height. I believe I have the correct info for that (113-116mm). After reading your instructions you have answered more of my questions. The machine should not be running when measuring oil level and the supply tube must be disconnected? I cant simply remove the top allen bolt and measure/add? We are certain the level is the problem because when the oil tank is manipulated/moved the error light will go off. I have the proper oil, but this is a new machine for me and unfortunately I dont have much information on this machine as of yet. Thank you for time.

Machine displays "oil can #3" I believe the correct measurement I am looking for is 113-116mm from the removed top allen plug to correct oil level down, in the #3 reserve tank. If I am correct, can I simply top off with correct oil at correct height? Does power need to be on? Do I need to disconect anything? Do I need to do anything special excepct make sure the reserve tank is level for an accurate reading? Thank you for your time.

I usually push the cylinder to the button and fill it.

Are you removing the top Allen screw plug (pictured, next to quick connect) then adding the oil there, and measuring down 115mm? The Allen plug I am referring to is being quite stubborn and is not wanting to break free so I want to be assured I am not taking off the wrong plug. Also, I am wondering if the system is pressurized when not running. Can I simply remove the plug without worries? I really appreciate all your time and help.

Measurement is taken with a depth gauge of your preference, from the end surface of the intensifier block to the piston. To do this, remove the plug on the end (facing the directional control valves) and measure the distance. The measurement is not depth of oil, it's length of throw of the cylinder.

Yes, you need to remove allen screw cap and supply tube. The allen screw is stubborn as you mentioned. Use a proper allen key to open it. Do it carefully and patiently to avoid damaging the screw.
The system is not pressurised, but you switch OFF the machine and disconnect pneumatic tube from intensifier.

Thanks, Matthew! But that doesn't make me feel any less obsolete :)
