We have been having an issue with the PC not powering up when we power up the press. Today the only way we got it to come on was to open the hood up on the counsel and shut the switch off to the computer and turn it back on, there was no power at the PC prior to doing this. We re seated all the boards in the cabinet and the counsel that had no effect. Any help would be appreciated.

    TIA

    Hi sir:

When you say PC , you are talking about pc= Printed circuit board? or personal computer??

However is PC that i believed , that must be , test:

    1) Perform a visual inspection :

look for loose and broken wires, improperly seated connectors, loose or broken wires
misset switch, missing jumpers. and so on.

    Check for obviously damaged component(components burned or discolore due to overheating);
    Dust + dirt + tear +wear

    2) Reseating Boards and components:

Edge connectors are a common source of problems(80%) in electronic. Power down the system and remove the PC boards.

Examine the edge connector for contamination and clean with contacts cleaner contacts. Reseat any loose components such as scoketed ICs) .
Reseat the boards and power up.

    3) Look for Dry +colder ,joint Solder in electronic board

Talking about the personnel computer (pc) that runs the CP2000 software. I'll have to see what error codes there have been. When we rebooted the pc there wasn't anything that we had to clear to get the press running. I know there's a place that you can see what error codes there have been, I'll have to see if I can find the right screen and let you know.

What's your IPC model and serial number? Does the display turns dark while in operation for some time?

when you see the machine turned on, what fault is displayed on the screen? see in INIT TEST Loudun TEST.

See photo for model & serial number. Had to do the same this morning. Once it’s up and going it works fine.

Do you know if it's soldered on or a user replaceable battery?

    Thanks

ok sir , i understood that is Personal Computer, sorry for my tips, that i gave you.

However you need to test the power supply inside from PC, can be possible some

    a) defective power supply +5Vdc +12Vdc etc

    b) look if the Led green is LIT , this will be indicating that are Voltage present.

    c) test the Battery inside of Mother board and replace with the same type of Battery.

    d) clean very well inside the Memory RAM, the edge with some cleaner contacts electronic.

    e) look for some loose wires or ribbon cables faulty, or corroded contacts.

    f) pass the antivirus and look for update the BIOS of PC

    Hello everyone,
Once IPC turns ON, there is row of LEDs on main board that light up. Can you tell us about those LEDs status?
If LEDs are OFF, then check the power supply. As CHOCK explained, by measuring +12V, +5V and 3.3V at power supply connector. I had replaced many of them and hopefully you can find it in the market.
If LEDs are light up, then I'm pretty sure you have an issue with IPC mother board. There was a common problem of MC2 series and Heidelberg exchanged them on a recall. It might be possible to repair mother board.
There is no CMOS battery on these IPCs and since it's running with WINDOWS NT, there is no chance to install any software. BIOS update is tricky and I don't recommend.

    Good luck,

However RUN: antivirus+ Update BIOS, can be corrupt.
Exchange Battery for Circuit CMOS back up, x 3.3VDC
Do as I did explain you before carefully.
    Blessing

    Dear Chock,
There is no CMOS battery on this IPCs. For your information, CMOS battery applied on MC3 and later generation.

    Regards,

    The customer must be sure.

Since, some battery has different design, to the actual.

However the factories , that design CMOS circuit, in Motherboard PC, had been designing from the start production like Apple.

    Must be look very well.

Most likely you have a defective motherboard.

Mathew is right you need to take the cover off of the IPC and see if the LEDs on the motherboard are lit up. If not then it is always good to replace the power supply, the power supply can also be tested on the bench, you need to short a certain pin on the connector with the negative, a quick google search should reveal what needs to be done.
If the power supply leds are ON then may be the IPC display is dead. You can try hooking up an external monitor if thats the case.
If there is power on the IPC and the display is dark and nothing changes with an external monitor then there is a slim chance the RAM has gone bad.
